 After starting her blog, Haitian girl confidential, Shaina wanted another outlet to connect and inspire Haitian women. She submitted her idea to the Clinton Global Intitiave University and was accepted to their conference in Miami, May 2015. Her etsy shop, laglasseslipper is giving Haitian women from her hometown a way to make a living trough selling handmade goods. Her Brand message, my foot is too big for the glass slipper is the idea that women doesn't have to get married to get out of poverty. She is promoting Haitian classic style because her items bring an island vibe to your home.

My mom always told me to never say never. I swore off Haitian men and told myself that I would rather died than to marry one. The truth of the matter is, as bad as some of them are there is not nothing like a good Haitian man with great family values that makes you happy more than any other man that you have experienced. The love they have for their wives is apparent . Care taker, protective, sometimes over bearing and so good at love making and would definitely make you eat your words. LOL

Red flags for your Haitian long distance lover

There is nothing like falling in love. I really don't like when people shame other people that are in long distances relationships. There is a negative stigma for women that date a guy overseas which is completely unfair. Whenever a woman dates someone overseas people usually think she is desperate. Although in some cases, women are completely naive, I think we all are at some point in love whether the guy live in your dorm, 20 minutes away or a hundred thousand miles away.

I don’t condone women to be fools, emptying your accounts for your mate either. I’m just telling people that like to judge without knowing the full story to shut the fuck up. If you decided to be in a relationship with someone abroad because you think you have found something in that person that you longed for here are some red flags that can either pump your breaks or investigate or run for the hills.

There phone is always dead.

How you start off talking until the wee hours in the morning and texting 24 hours of the day, to be barely reachable and always MIA.

They want to keep the relationship off social media

Some people are private and do not like the world to be in their business but if he is too scared to post a photo on his page, he most likely have something to hide.

Catfish

You never see the full body pictures and the person post fake photos and never like to send you recent photos.

He let you live in a hotel when you go visit

You made that long trip and he doesn’t take you to his house and drop you off at a friend’s house. He has another serious relationship at home

He is just not that into you

You always text and call first and he never puts any effort in making the long distance relationship work

You are spending too much money

Don’t live beyond your means to support someone cause it is a financially investment that you might not see no return on

He won’t make the first move

He has the means but waiting for you to come to him first

The best time to go to Haiti

Growing up in Haiti in a town called Aux Cayes, I watched people come all over the world to visit. Some for missionary reasons, some to party on vacation, others to see family and tend to their businesses. I just happen to fall into all these categories. Whenever I just want a laid back trip without any commotion, I go during early summer, preferably June and May. The tickets are usually under 600 dollars if you are from the NY area. If you would like to experience Haiti's culture, going in February would probably be the best time due to the carnivals and other festivities. This time is really colorful, people dressed up in traditional clothing , crazy make up and costumes and a lot of dancing in the streets. Ticket prices vary because the dates usually change throughout the year. If you want to party and have a great vacation, December is your month.. Haitians take christmas parties very seriously. There is usually something going on every weekend and the club lines are usually long if you don't know someone at the door. If you going to to missionary work I recommend going in may or June since the flights are cheaper... Email me for any questions.

In America depends on noone

I've been trough it all. The hurt, disappointment and heartbreaks will never break me down. But girlll, how much can a woman take? The worst part about it, I will forget about what someone did to me and be all cool with them again the next day. This country called America, make the most vulnerable human beings become serial killers, Friends turned out to be your enemies and relationships are now business transactions. Family is even worse, they selfishly use you, friends can gossip about you and wipe your tears and fellow church members will take you to court. Child let me stop telling my business and give you some tips on how to get trough it. 
If you are trying to make it in this country you have to be rude, so rude that people would'not dare to ask you to borrow money and rude enough that if they do you are able to scare them into giving it to you.

• Know your real friends at work. Do not try to best friends with everyone the first few weeks, it's okay to laugh but don't tell people your personal business.
  Treat people how they treat you. Only give your all to people that deserve it. Don't take people for granted.
• Do not use guys for money. Karma is a bitch and that's lame anyway. Men are not personal ATM's, work for your money and hold on to your dignity. 
• Live your life. Choose your own major, fuck who you want and do what you want Only if you can handle the consequences.

Do good. Balance it out, it is better for injustice to be done to you than to do it to others.

As a self proclaimed Haitian queen, and referred by my friends as the most independent girl, they know, I decided to take it upon my self to create a platform that helps empower other Haitian Women financially.
Laglasseslipper is created for Haitian women taking charge of their financial independence by handmaking goods and jewerly and trying to sell it for a good price.So far we have a Glasse Slipper is founded in Rochester, New York but Based in my Hometown Aux Cayes, Haiti. After watching my mother struggle after immigrating my family here from Haiti, I wanted to do something for the women in Haiti that doesn't have the same opportunity to come to America to work in order to provide a better life for their children.
I believe in giving people a hand up and the best way to combat poverty is to help people make a living and teach them a skill. I came up with the idea and submitted it to my school and was invited to go to the Clinton Global Initiative conference in Miami in march 2015. My focus was to help empower Haitian women financially so they don't have to marry in order to get out of poverty and decrease male financial dependency which is very common in Haitian culture.
My goal is to hire 8 women by next year and so far we have 3 women working with James who designs and paints our products.
By purchasing our products you are supporting these women directly because the money they earned from our sales is used to buy food and other necessities for their children. Every product is handmade and made out of recyclable products.

Haitian men in Miami, stay out of their path

I can only speak from personal experiences that myself, family and friends have encountered. I only have negative horror stories to speak about Haitian men in the Florida area, especially in Miami. Although most men in my culture are attentive, caring and very great fathers and husbands, I have to say the rest that I have encountered are scam artists, liars, cheats on their wives constantly and are even evil. The reason why Miami is home of the bad guys is because Miami is the premier destination for Haitian people that choose to restart their lives in America. The lack of jobs, and hardships and the competitiveness in Haitian culture after moving to America caused these men to become selfish, scam artists and borderline desperate. One incident in particular, one of my friends thought that she had found love after a pleasant encounter with a stranger in the International airport in Miami.  For privacy reasons we gonna use Sara as her alias name.They exchanged phone numbers and used to be on the phone for hours. The only problem was that she lived in NYC and he lived in Miami. He told her that he was studying criminal justice on his way to become a police officer and owned a trucking business in Haiti. They planned their first visit for her to come see him.  When she got to the airport, he kept sending her to voicemail and did not picked up his phone. After being stranded for hours, he finally send one of his friends to pick her up and she had nowhere to go. It was then she found out that he had a pregnant fiancee and was only in America on a temporary visa. After one of his friends tipped off the pregnant fiancee, he had to leave her stranded in the airport because if his fiancee called off the shotgun wedding, he would be deported for staying past his visa date that was already expired. To top things off he had a girlfirend in Haiti and had a three year old daughter.

Haitian men with babymama

How much time do you keep your mouth shut to keep the peace? How many times do you need to be a bigger person? When do you finally stop wondering if your partner is still in love with the mother of his kids? The answer is as long as it takes to keep your man happy but sometimes enough is enough.
 Haitian men do not like drama and obsessing yourself over his ex is not helpful to your sanity or to your relationship. I know we as women wants to know the full truth but sometimes we cannot handle it? You might want to know the reason they broke up but what if your man was the one in the wrong. Moving on.
Most Haitian men takes pride on raising their children and they would not stop being in their lives just because you just came in the picture. Rather to make him choose on spending time between you and his kids, involve yourself even if he did not offer. But what if his ex is a territorial bitch that don't want you near her kids and can't let go of the fact the relationship is over and wants to make your life miserable, play the victim and use this as an opportunity to shine.
